Gives you wings...

I passed the Red Bull milk float on the way home down the M1 last night.  Yeah, it was on a trailer, not trundling along at low-rider speeds.

How come Red Bull haven't thrown a wad of sponsorship dosh at a major Moth championships?  Surprisingly, it says on the Australian site that they were "not keen" to sponsor Belmont.  Yet they must be spending tens, if not hundreds, of thousands supporting their Extreme 40.  The overall budget must be enormous across all their sports sponsorships.

Surely the return from a Moths champs would be worth the investment?  Forget a few decals from the Italian state car manufacturer - a fully branded RB Moth or three would look awesome.  The Moth class would certainly give Red Bull wings!

    Apparently they are not interested! The committee have approached them but they turned us down!

    Their loss! Not sure why we need sponsors anyway. Unless we get some megabucks any money they put in will go on giving them ROI as has happened for the last few worlds, euros etc...

    The sponsorship money from ZHIK, SP and NSW Govt which we recieved from Blemont was only half what we received from entries. It fell short of what was spent on media production.
    So without sponsors the regatta would have been much the same but only those at Belmont would have known anything about it.

    I approached Red Bull in the UK before Weymouth and they said they were pulling out of sailing!

    They must get a huge amount of approaches and in the ens its going to be TV or high traffic internet they are interested in. We still only get a few thousand hits a day for major events don't we? Big in sailing terms is almost below the radar for major sports like surfing, skateboarding etc

    The most viewed Moth videi on YouTube is stall Sam Pascoe's early onboard footage with 76,000 hits. The most viewed skateboard clip has 8.9 million. That's the backgound!
